10 Awesome YA Autumn Reads

10 Awesome YA Autumn Reads

As Fall kicks into full gear this upcoming month, I’m positive you’ll see your fair share of pumpkins and gourds and all those high school girls slipping into their Ugg boots and carrying around their PSL’s from the nearest Starbucks. Fall is a favoured season among readers because -let me be honest- its gorgeous, but its also means we readers get to throw back on our XL sweaters and cozy knee high socks and cuddle up with a good book.

Here are some suggestions at what you can curl up with while sipping on the hot beverages – tea, coffee, pumpkin spice latte-that we all adore…

My Life Next Door by Huntley Fitzpatrick

This book will get you out of just about any stress that you may be having about midterms or school. Though its not a book that primarily takes place during the autumn season, it brings about a fluffy joy that anyone would love while cozying up this season.

FANGIRL by Rainbow Rowell

Fangirl is one of my all time favourite novels and its perfect for the Fall season. This book takes place at the start of the school year and is a perfect blend of witty, funny, contemplative and intense. This book is a MUST for everyone, you can read this whenever, but its a wonderful kind of book for this time of year.

Lament & Ballad by Maggie Stiefvater

This Duology is one of my favourite lesser known books. These novels are exquisitely written and – well of course they are, its Maggie Stiefvater- they are perfect if you are into Fae or any type of fantasy. These books are perfect as we round into Fall and Halloween.

Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor

This book is so incredibly unique and falls in great with the Halloween themes of skeleton bones and unknown mysteries. It is a wonderfully colourful and fast-paced book that will keep you ready for more. fact: there are more. YAY.

The Replacement by Brenna Yovanoff

While on the topic of Halloween and some spooky reads, I will follow suit with this creepy tale. This book about changelings is not the fluffy fairy tale stories you were read as a kid (unless your parents loved scary stories waaay too much). This is perfect to give you chills that will send you under that cozy autumn blanket.

Any Harry Potter book really.. by J.K Rowling

Oh these books, of course they are here. Every single one of these should be on your Fall TBR this year, even if you just read them this summer. They are just perfect for every person and every occasion but the Fall especially as people gear up to dress as the new Cursed Child characters this halloween.

Carry On, by Rainbow Rowell.

Carry On by Rainbow Rowell

This book can be read before of after (I read it after to thats what I am partial to) reading Fangirl. Its such a beautiful mix of cute and magical that will have you yelling “squeeeeee” into your chai tea, and I mean, maybe that was just me, but trust me, amazing book- a must.

Doon by Carey Corp & Lorie Langdon

Do you love Magic? Do you love Scotland? Do you love attractive Scottish princes in a totally magical realm? If you love all these things specifically you’ve probably already read this book and devoured it as fast as I did. If you haven’s read it, you really should.

Nevermore by Kelly Creagh

Back to that lovely creepy feeling you get when you hear all those autumn leaves rustling as you walk alone down the street at night, I bring you Nevermore. This book takes the eerie tones of Edgar Allen Poe’s poetry and turns it into a romantic , yet spooky story.

10.

meant-to-be

Meant To Be by Lauren Morrill

I will end with this book because, even though it has nothing to do with Autumn, its one of those books I love reading because it makes my heart happy. It was the first eBook I ever bought and I raced through it, laughing and going “awww”, perfect for de-stressing.

So those are 10 books you should read this Autumn (it was more than 10 but you get the point). What is great about Autumn feels is that you can read cute and cozy reads and then also read spooky and eerie reads and they both seem to go with the season!

Read what you love, love what you read; love what you love, read what you read.
